Heavy Sports Inc. Sponsoring
Guidelines
Please read information below
before
contacting Heavy Sports Inc. for sponsoring your event.
In addition to the obvious
strength-sports, Heavy Sports Inc. wholesales and retails to a wide variety of
consumers involved in sports such as archery, baseball, bowling, fencing,
gymnastics, football, hockey, track and field, kite surfing, rock / mountain
climbing, numerous martial art disciplines and various racquet sports; just to
name a few.
Because of the wide range of consumer
use of our products, we get bombarded with requests to sponsor athletes and
events on a regular basis from everything from elementary school football teams,
Gymnastics and cheerleading events to Bodybuilding, Powerlifting and Strongman
events. We greatly appreciate the wide consumer appeal our products have
received, but unfortunately, we are unable to help every event.
Here are a few guidelines to
follow:
-
We do not sponsor individual
athletes. We are not looking for athletes to
endorse our products at this time. If an individual athlete is helping raise
money for a children's charity, we will look at sponsoring that type of
scenario. If we only sold to one or two sports, we would change our policy, but
we get requests from athletes from dozens of totally unrelated sports- bowling
to bodybuilding and archery to arm-wrestling.
-
USA Events:
Our corporate office is located in rural Canada 300 miles
from the nearest major airport. It is not feasible for us to sponsor a booth
at an event in the USA as the insurance costs alone are $6500.00 per year.
There are dozens of companies that distribute our products from the USA that
may be interested in setting up a booth at your event. "But you
have a USA mailing address": We contract with
a USA Fulfillment company to process USA orders to save time, shipping, duty and brokerage
costs for
USA customers. We do not actually have a USA corporate office.
-
We only sponsor events that promote
Children's Charities: If your event is helping a children's charity, we
will be happy to sponsor products for prizes and give-aways. Please note that
we only supply products for events outside of Canada. Please do not ask for
money unless you are sponsoring a Canadian event that can provide a charitable
tax receipt. (ie. Canadian Make-a-Wish Foundation, Children's hospital, etc..)
-
What we want in return for
sponsorship: Nothing! We do not need to be listed on
T-Shirts or on banners or websites. If your event is helping raise money for a
Children's Charity of Youth event, we will be happy to donate prizes such as
Heavy Grips handgrippers(www.heavygrips.com ) Heavy Handle
Dumbbells(www.heavyhandle.com ) or Heavy Sports Gym Bags (Canada/USA) or give
a monetary donation (Canada-with tax receipt) for certain charities. We
appreciate being able to help youth charities and don't need recognition for
it. We would appreciate if you could let us know when you receive the product
we sent. If we do not hear from you, we will not sponsor your event the next
year. We just want to ensure that our sponsored products are received and put
to good use. We should not have to follow up by checking tracking and
contacting the event organizer.
-
Please respect our sponsorhip
policies: We cannot sponsor hundreds of events each year, so that is why
we made the Children's Charity/Youth Athletic Policy. We still sponsor dozens
of events each year but if we are unable to sponsor your event because you do
not qualify, please do not take out your frustration on the customer-service
rep that may inform you of that decision. This has been an issue in the
past by only one sport which we will not name. For those bitter athletes
and organizers that have made threats against our company and products, please remember that for every
hardcore strength athlete, there are 100's if not 1000's of golfers, hockey,
football and baseball players who also use our products to develop better
hand-strength for their respective sports and we have never had a rude comment
from any of these athletes or organizations when they did not meet our
sponsoring criteria. We are doing our best to promote strength training and
strength sports, but if you are not happy, please ask the customer service rep
for a manager or board-member and they will contact you so you can air your
grievances.
